A state lawmaker from Southeast Iowa says the drop in Iowa’s Public Employees Retirement Fund is cause for concern, but not alarm. Riverside Representative Larry Marek says any fund tied to the stock market has taken a hit recently. He says this shouldn’t be an indication that IPER funding needs to be invested in something more conservative. Marek says slight adjustments in the amount of benefits paid, and employee contributions are likely the best solutions.
