Volunteer Program at WHS

Students at Washington High School are being encouraged to volunteer in the community. Principal Shane Ehresman says the Silver Cord Service Commendation will recognize students who have contributed to the community by offering them scholarships and other opportunities. Ehresman says students who complete the program will receive silver cords to wear during graduation and will be recognized in the commencement program. The United Presbyterian Church’s Read and Feed book club will meet Thursday, September 17 at 11:45 am. Each member should choose a book to read and give a brief report about it. Be sure to bring your lunch.

Prayer Dinner

Choir Concert

Chaplaincy Fundraiser

The Parkview Manor Chaplaincy Program Fundraiser will be Friday, September 18 at Asbury United Methodist Church from 4:30-6:30 pm. There will be a silent auction and a cash and carry table. A grilled pork burger meal will be served for $6 for adults and $3.50 for children under 12.

Dixieland Band

The Barbary Coast Dixieland Band will perform at the Washington Community Center Monday, September 21 at 7:30 pm. Admission is $15 for adults and $5 for high school students and younger. Season passes are available for $30.

Learn at Lunch

Walk/Run

The 10th annual Hospice of Washington County 5k Walk/Run will be Saturday, September 19 from 8:00 am noon in Sunset Park. Participants are asked to submit pictures of loved ones and a special message for a memorial. Registration begins at 8:00 am. For more information, call 653-7321.
