WACO SB Reorganizes Monday

The WACO School Board will undergo reorganization during Mondays (9/21) meeting in the high school library. Several elections and appointments will be made to the positions of board president, vice president, and new board and committee members. They will also consider the approval of a school district attorney. The public is welcome to attend, although those wishing to speak must submit their request in writing to the Superintendent no later than noon Monday.

Wellman FFA Pushes Highway Safety

FFA members in Wellman want to remind southeast Iowa teens to buckle up when driving. Project Coordinator Kristy Pellett says the Buckle Up or Eat Glass campaign will have Wellman students speak to fellow youth about highway safety and even conduct seatbelt checks at undisclosed locations. Pellett says teens are at an increased risk of accident due to inexperience behind the wheel and distractions such as cell phones

Community Development at IMS

Students at IMS will be giving back to the community this Thursday and Friday during their annual Work Days. IMS Development Director Larry Swartzendruber says the program gets kids out of the classroom and into the workforce. He says its an opportunity for them to help the community and raise money for the school at the same time. Swartzendruber says the students receive wages from their jobs, and the money raised will go to the schools Student Aid Fund. He says the money will help support families who need support paying tuition.
