Pork producers have been through a rough patch lately, and fears about the mislabeled H1N1 virus have matter matters worse this year. Hedi Vittetoe is with JWV Pork in Washington County. She says at this point most hog farmers are trying to minimize loss. Vittetoe says the lack of a summertime rally due to the H1N1 scare was particularly damaging. Vittetoe says producers need to stay positive about promoting pork, and avoid anymore negative publicity. She also says they need to avoid over feeding hogs this fall, and putting excess tonnage on the market.
