Washington’s Lincoln and Stewart Schools have been identified as “in need of assistance” by the federal No Child Left Behind law. Curriculum Director Veta Thode says certain math and reading scores were deficient on the Iowa Test of Basic Skills. She says Lincoln was on the watch list last year and has a plan to improve scores. She says a similar one will have to be implemented at Stewart. Thode says that includes setting reading and math goals. She says the district’s plan for professional development is focusing on curriculum alignment.
