The One to Count On...

Trojans beat Demons

It wasn’t a high scoring affair as the Fairfield Trojans beat the Washington Demons 10-0 using their ground attack. There wasn’t much fancy to it, the Trojans just ran through the interior part of their line and kept the Demon offense on the sidelines. Both teams would force each other to punt until the Trojans started a drive with just over a minute left in the first quarter and punched it in from three yards out with about 10 minutes left in the first half to go up 7-0. The Trojans started the second half with the football and on the kickoff it was kind of unfortunate thing, Demon kicker Joel Vittetoe just kind of mishit the ball and it fell off the tee, but since he made contact the Trojans were given the ball at the Demon 40. Fairfield got deep in Demon territory but were held to a 20-yard field goal, and that would be it for the scoring as the Trojans won 10-0. The biggest problem for the Demons is they just didn’t seem to be able to get their offense going well. With the win Fairfield is now 4-2 in the district and the Demons are 3-3. Fairfield plays Mount Pleasant next who is also 4-2 in the district. The Demons play Fort Madison next. Washington needs Fairfield to beat Mount Pleasant to get into the post season.
