Fairfield Senator Becky Schmitz says Iowa’s economic future is relatively positive compared to many other states. Schmitz the state had a strong economic foundation before the recession began. She cites things like the state’s commitment to education and responsible spending as being keys to that success. Schmitz says once the legislature convenes in January, they’ll try to balance the budget without raising taxes.
