In postseason football last night, the Washington Demons were at Centerville taking on the number four ranked Big Reds, and the Demons were knocking on the door early but just couldn’t get it answered. On their first two drives the Demons drove down the field deep into Centerville territory. On the first drive they got down to the Centerville 10 but a pass was intercepted in the endzone. The next drive Washington got down to the Centerville 14 but was stopped on fourth down. Meanwhile, the Big Reds got two big plays from their running backs, the first was an 80 yard touchdown run by Tanner Susin and they other Ethan Moorman went 64 yards for the touchdown with 10:04 left in the half. Washington went in at the half down 20-0. The Big Reds came right out in the third and scored on the first play in the second half a play action pass for 65 yards went for a touchdown the two point conversion was no good so 27-0. Big Reds got it back after a Demon fumble and would score again they would end up winning 40-8. Washington scored with about 50-seconds left on an Austin Knupp touchdown. Afterwards Head Coach Jason Ganoe says if they could have scored on one of those two early drives, he feels the game would have been much closer. The Demons end up 5-5 Centerville moves to 10-0. The Big Reds play Clear Creek Amana who beat Carlisle 38-3. Clear Creek Amana was the only District 5 team win last night. Grinnell beat Fairfield 27-7, Pella came from behind to beat Williamsburg 31-24.
