It’s homecoming tonight for the Washington Demons as they host the defending district champs and rival Mount Pleasant. The Panthers are coming off a homecoming win of their own when they beat Clear Creek Amana 28-14. For the Demons, they beat Keokuk last week 39-20. Last season down in Mount Pleasant the Demons struck first with a big Jordan Vittetoe touchdown run but the Panthers ended up running away with the game winning 50-19. This season Demon Head Coach Jason Ganoe says the Panthers still have the players to be explosive running a spread offense that compliments their ground game. The Panthers’ Darrian Cotton has 420 rushing yards so far. The Panthers have been battling a flu bug that has hit the district. So many students have been out of school that the Tuesday volleyball match this between the two schools had to be postponed. But Ganoe says he believes the Panther football team was able to practice and will be ready. As for his team his main goal is to eliminate the little mistakes that have halted some of the Demons drive this season. The Panthers are 3-0 in the district and the Demons are 2-1. Now it will be a little different than a typical home game tonight because the freshman game has been canceled so there won’t be a curtain opener. It will just be the varsity game and they will still kick off at 7:30. We’ll be on the air with coverage at 7-pm with the Federation Bank Pre-Game Show.
