Iowa lawmakers on Capitol Hill are pushing for disaster relief reform for areas of the state affected by natural disasters. The reform bill, co-sponsored by Senators Tom Harkin and Chuck Grassley, would allow states to use disaster funding as a local match, share, or contribution for federal projects. Second district congressman Dave Loebsack says there are still many projects in need of assistance after last year’s floods. He says reform like this would take the added pressure of local governments trying to recover.
