The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks are ranked number 8 in the latest AP High School Football Poll, and one of their senior leaders is right there towards the top in the state among statistical leaders. The Golden Hawks only loss came to Washington 16-15. They are unbeaten in their district and are aiming for a second straight district title. Running back Tanner Miller has been a key part and Mid-Prairie Head Coach Pete Cavanaugh says he’s been running well and seems to be getting even better as the season goes along. Miller has rushed for over 200 yards in each of the Golden Hawks last two games. He is one of only 15 athletes in the state to have already gone over a thousand yards rushing for 1,027 yards and scoring 16 touchdowns. He leads the state in scoring among 11-player football teams with 139 points. This week is homecoming for Mid-Prairie as they host Columbus. Columbus is 1-5 and looking for their first district win this week. The Wildcats also have a strong runner in Jared Eichelberger, who comes into Friday’s game just eight short of a thousand yards.
