The Demon volleyball team dropped a match in five last night to Pekin. Playing in Demon Gym, Washington came out and played well early in game one but had a lull spot where they committed several errors and Pekin got right back in it and took the first 25-16. The Demons won the second and third 25-17, 25-21, but Pekin won the fourth 25-22 forcing a fifth game. In the fifth the Demons struggled especially serving and lost 15-11. Head Coach Jeff Spenner says missed serves was the thing that hurt them last night especially in game five. On a positive note Washington did much better on service return which has hurt them in the pastFor the Demons:
Jonte Thornton 12 kills 18 digs
Lucy Libe 8 kills 17 digs
Greta Smeins 4 kills
Kathleen Kennedy 32 assists and 15-17 serving with 2 aces
Molly Donnolly 26 digs
The Demons go on the road tonight to play Fairfield.
