Iowa soybean crops have had an up and down growing season this year and producers may see some challenges during harvest. Regional Extension Director Gene Mohling says some soybeans in eastern Iowa saw frost damage which creates problems when harvested. He says frost damaged beans have less extractable oil than their dryer counterparts. Mohling says soybeans with high moisture content are difficult to separate in combines and contain a higher amount of foreign matter.
