12 Washington County 4-H’ers brought home 18 ribbons from the annual Ak-Sar-Ben livestock competitions in Nebraska last month. 4-H youth coordinator Katie Peiffer says their winning categories included breeding beef, both live and carcass market beef, as well as both live and carcass swine. The show takes it’s name from the Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben…a group formed in the 1800’s to promote and aide the Nebraska State Fair.
