The City of Washington plans to put a bid in on a building on south Marion Street that collapsed in 2006. Councilors voted last night to offer just over $12,000 for the structure. Mayor Sandra Johnson feels it’s in the city’s best interest to manage the property. The city advanced property owner Alfonso Raymundo $90,000 to have the building demolished. Raymundo was awarded more than $227,000 in May from a civil suit brought against two companies working on the building prior to the collapse.
