Whether Washington County implements a zoning ordinance is now up to the board of supervisors. The commission that developed the ordinance voted last night to send it to the board. They did so after a marathon session of public comment from those both for and against zoning. One of the biggest concerns expressed about the proposal is that it limits what size lot a house can be built on in certain areas. Others say it too heavily favors farm interests. One thing most people seemed to agree on is the level of work the commission put into the document. Several of the nearly one hundred in attendance commended them for their work.
