Ethanol sales in Iowa were down last month compared to sales in the rest of the nation. The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association says Iowa was one of the nation’s leading users of E10 ethanol, or fuel with 10 percent ethanol and 90 percent gasoline, in 2006 but has since lagged behind the country. The IRFA says this year however, Iowa has fallen to below average standards. Despite the drop, Iowa is still the leader in renewable fuel production with forty ethanol refineries producing 3.3 billion gallons.
