Delila Louise Ballard
Delilia Louise Ballard, age 84, of Washington died Friday November 20, 2009 at her home following a short illness.

Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 am Tuesday November 24, 2009 at the Jones-Eden Funeral Home with services conducted by Michael Zahs. Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm Monday at the Jones – Eden Funeral Home in Washington where the family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Interment will take place at LaHarpe Cemetery in LaHarpe, Illinois at 2:30 pm on Tuesday. Memorials may be directed to the Community Senior Center in Washington. Louise was born on September 29, 1925 in Greenwood, Indiana the daughter of Frances (Lee) Parish. She attended school in Franklin, where she graduated from high school in 1943. Louise was united in marriage to William Richard (Dick) Ballard on July 8, 1944 in Franklin, Indiana. Louise and Dick lived in many cities as they traveled with the Bill Bishop Orchestra for many years. They came to Washington in 1952 and later settled in Washington in 1959, where they managed the Everett Music Store. Louise worked as the office manager and accountant for 25 years retiring in 1987. Louise was very active in volunteer work in the community. She was involved with the United Methodist Church Women, Community Senior Center, Washington County Hospital Gift Shop, and the Y’s Women. Louise enjoyed gardening and yard work, talk radio, University of Iowa Women’s Basketball, having lunch with her friends on Fridays, and was an avid Chicago Cubs Baseball Fan.

She is survived by her sons, Richard Ballard and wife Cindy of North Liberty, Iowa; Gary Ballard of Decorah, Iowa; Mark Ballard and wife Cindy of Decorah, Iowa; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brothers, John Parish and wife Sharon of Franklin, Indiana; and David Parish of Franklin, Indiana and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother; husband in 1986; son, Jim Ballard; sister, Pauline Mayberry; brother, Ray Parish; daughter in law, Cindy Ballard; and great granddaughter, Fiona.
