Raiders fall to Waverly-Shellrock

The Williamsburg Raider volleyball team saw their season come to an end in the semifinals. The Raiders came out of Washington’s regional and beat second ranked Algona in the quarterfinals, but yesterday taking on third ranked Waverly-Shell Rock the Raiders lost in three. Williamsburg finishes up 27-12 on the season. Looking at the other semifinals from yesterday, the other 3A match saw Sioux City Bishop Heelan beat Marion in three. So Heelan will face Waverly-Shell Rock in the final. In 2A, Mount Vernon beat Wapsie Valley in four and Sheldon defeated Western Christian, Hull in four, it almost went to a fifth though Sheldon won that fourth game 29-27. Sheldon and Mount Vernon meet in the 2A final. In 1A, Schaller-Crestland beat Treynor in five and Tripoli downed Don Bosco in three. So Schaller-Crestland will face Tripoli. Finally in 4A, Iowa City West beat Cedar Rapids Kennedy in five so they meet Ankeny who beat Dubuque Hemstead.
