The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks had a tall order playing the two time defending state champs and number Solon Spartans in Solon. The Spartans were held to seven points in the first quarter but scored three touchdowns in the second quarter including one with just under a minute left. It was 28-0 at halftime. The Spartans scored on the second half’s opening drive to go up 35-0 and spark the continuous clock. Mid-Prairie’s Tanner Miller suffered a shoulder injury on a 39-yard run in the first half and then on a kick off return in the third quarter suffered a possible concussion so he didn’t play the second half. The Spartans ended up winning 42-14. The Golden Hawks scored midway through the fourth quarter with a Brody Barthelman 7 yard td run and then Dylan Wertz recovered a blocked punt with 2:51 left. For Mid-Prairie Miller had 9-68 yards, Barthelman 12-57 yards. Mark Aldeman was 5-14 35 yards an interception and a touchdown. So Solon moves on and will next play Regina who beat Davis County 28-21, Friday’s game will be at Regina.
