State football championships

Over the weekend the high school football season wrapped up with championship games being played in the UNI-Dome. This season saw two repeat champions and one rematch from last year’s final game. The rematch occurred in eight-man where last year Lenox beat Armstrong-Ringstead by two points, this year Armstrong-Ringstead got revenge beat Lenox 49-30. In Class A, Southern Cal, Lake City for the second year in a row used an overtime one point win to get the title this time it was to beat Newman Catholic, Mason City. In 1A, St. Albert, Council Bluffs beat South Winneshiek 35-0. In 2A, Solon won their third straight championship beating Boyden-Hull-Rock Valley 38-7. Solon Senior James Morris had 223 yards on the ground and 4 touchdowns. In 3A, Harlan beat Pella 35-14. Finally in 4A, Iowa City High over Marshalltown 42-14.
