T. Josephine Young, age 82, of Washington, Iowa died Saturday, November 28, 2009 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a short illness.

Celebration of life services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday December 2, 2009 at the Jones – Eden Funeral Home with Pastor Darryl Carr officiating. Visitation will begin 12:00 pm Wednesday at the Jones – Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 Wednesday afternoon. Interment will take place at Sandy Hook Cemetery in rural Brighton, Iowa. A general memorial has been established. Josephine was born on November 17, 1927 in Brighton, Iowa the daughter of Charles and Adelaide (Alter) Dunbar. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School. She was united in marriage to Jesse Finley and was later married to Herbert W. Young. She lived for many years with Harold Arthur Lee.

Josephine lived most of her life in Washington, Iowa. She was a homemaker and was proud to be a mother and care for her eight children. Josephine previously worked at MHI in Mt. Pleasant as well as the High Hat Café and several other cafes in Iowa. She also worked for Oral B in Iowa City and Advance Ross in Washington.

She is survived by eight children including daughter Margaret Finley of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; son A. Paul Finley and wife K.C. of Earlham, Iowa; son Dennis Young of North English, Iowa; daughter Delrene Harris and husband Craig of Iowa City, Iowa; son Bill Young of Iowa City, Iowa; son Desmond Young and wife Dee of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; daughter Jody Scott of Washington, Iowa; and son Lance Young of Washington, Iowa. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren.

Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Jesse Finley and Herbert Young, and companion Harold Lee.
