Today is Veterans Day. The national holiday can be traced back to the signing of the treaty that ended World War I. American Legion Post 29 Commander Wendel Guy says today, Veterans Day has come to symbolize so much more. He says veterans have a special sort of bond. He says there’s no greater feeling than knowing you did your part to serve your country, no matter how big or small the contribution.

10:00 – Ceremonies at the Blair House; Speech from WWII Vets Tom Tanner and Don Nicholson

11:00 – 21 Gun Salute, Taps and Speaker at Flagpole outside Blair House

2:15 – Riverside Veteran’s Memorial Dedication

3:00 – Washington County All Veteran’s Memorial Dedication

6:00 – Veteran’s Banquet at National Guard Readiness Center in Washington

6:30 – Veteran’s Dinner at the Ainsworth Opera House.
