press play to hear from WCPH Admin. Edie Nebel
Cold weather has an icy grip on southeast Iowa. Washington County Public Health Administrator Edie Nebel says frigid temperatures can pose some major health risks if people aren’t properly prepared. She says it’s wise to dress in layers and cover as much skin as possible. She says exposed skin can quickly succumb to frost bite. Nebel says hypothermia is also a concern during cold weather, especially during physical activity. She says it’s important to drink plenty of fluids and take frequent breaks while working outside.
