The Washington Demon girls basketball team won big over Eddyville-Blakesburg on Saturday. The Demons opened on a 27-0 run in the first quarter and led 32-5 at halftime. They would cruise to a 67-20 win which puts the Demons at 3-0 on the season makes it the third straight game they scored in the upper sixties. Demon Head Coach Phil Long says he challenged his team to come out strong from the beginning and he felt it’s the best they looked in the first eight minutes of a game. Lucy Libe led the Demons with 20 points and had 8 steals, Cassey Sobaski had 11 points and Sydney Greiner had 11. The Demons next go on the road to play Williamsburg on Thursday.

There were a couple of other Southeast Conference schools in action Saturday. Fort Madison beat Van Buren 32-30. While Pella beat Mount Pleasant 72-36.
