An area basketball coach is being considered for a national award. IMS Boys Head Coach Dwight Gingerich is one of 18 Iowa coaches nominated for the 2010 National Coach/Athletic Director of the Year. The award is sponsored by the National High School Athletic Coaches Association, and as part of the nomination coaches are considered based on coaching tenure, coaching record, championship seasons, professional high school athletic service and high school coaching honors received. Gingerich has coached at IMS for 27 years and has a career record of 488-136. He has taken 10 teams to the state tournament won one state title finished runner up four times and finished third once.
