press play to hear from the DNR’s Don Pfeiffer

Four people were injured in deer hunting accidents in Iowa over the weekend. Don Pfeiffer is a Wildlife Supervisor with the Department of Natural Resources. He says the key to avoiding accidents such as these is communication. Pfeiffer says it’s also important to treat every gun as if it’s loaded. Two of the injuries in Iowa over the weekend occurred during what’s called a “deer drive.” That’s were one group tries to move the deer towards another stationery group. The other two, including one near Wapello, involved improper firearm handling.
