Iowa’s unemployment rate rose by a tenth of a percentage point last month to 6.7 percent. Despite the slight increase, Iowa Workforce Development Spokeswoman Kerry Koonce says there is a positive trend: non farm employment has increased three times over the last four months. In Washington County, unemployment rates rose a little more dramatically from 4.5 to 5.2 percent. However, it continues to have one of the lowest unemployment rates in the state.
