With Iowa roadways being covered with snow and ice over the past couple of days, the Department of Transportation Office of Motor Carrier Services is reminding commercial carriers that movement of permitted oversize loads is only allowed when the roads are clear, and visibility is at least a quarter mile. The Director of the Office of Motor Carrier Services Bruce Shuck says most oversize loads have a width issue and when the driver cannot see the lanes or the lane approaches with other traffic patterns, it becomes very dangerous. The DOT Reports this morning that all major routes are snow packed and travel of any kind is not recommended.
