Zoning continues to occupy a Washington County Supervisors time.

Zoning continues to occupy a Washington County Supervisors time. This week a group of anti zoning residents is presenting more signatures in a petition asking supervisors not to implement such an ordinance. The board will also have another work session to review the proposed ordinance. They’ll also consider personnel change requests from the engineer, veteran’s affairs, the sheriff and the auditor. The meeting starts at 9:30 Tuesday morning in the Washington County Courthouse.

IRFA disappointed with EPA

The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association is expressing disappointment at the EPA’s announcement that it is delaying a decision on the E15 waiver request.  The EPA announcement signaled other troubling caveats to any future E15 approval.  Iowa is the leader in renewable fuels production, and has 39 ethanol refineries capable of producing nearly 3.3 billion gallons annually.

FSA Voting

Today is the last day for Washington County Farmers to cast ballots in the Farm Service Agency Committee elections. FSA county committees act as a sort of liaison to help implement federal farm programs at the local level. This year’s election is being held in local administrative area three, which consists of Clay, Brighton, Marion, Franklin and Washington Townships. Ballots must be received in the County FSA office or post marked by today. New committee members take office January first.

Demons get road win at Durant

Candlelight Tour of Homes

The Washington Chamber of Commerce’s 19th annual Candlelight Tour of Homes is tonight and tomorrow night. The chamber’s Anne Moore says holiday decorations will be featured at four homes: the Huber Residence in the Water’s Edge subdivision, The Mannings on East 13th, Merle Davis and Linda Brown’s on West Tyler and the Ballou Home at Lake Trio.
