A proposed contract between Washington County and its secondary roads department is now pending ratification by union members. Engineer David Patterson says they expect the International Union of Operating Engineers local 234 to have a decision in the next couple of weeks. The county is also slated to enter into negotiations with the Teasmters Local 238 on December 16. They represent the sheriff’s deputies. They are asking for a 7.5 percent increase in county contributions to health and medical insurance and a 5.5 percent scheduled wage hike.
