A Washington Demon junior high coach has won a Coach of the Year award. The Iowa Association of Track Coaches named Washington 8th Grade Boys Track and Field Coach Duane Davis was recently presented with the award. Demon Varsity Boys Head Coach Steve Roth the recognition is well deserved. Roth feels Davis and the coaches at the junior high level have been instrumental in the Demons’ success. One of the thing Davis tries to do is make sure all of the kids have a positive experience at the junior high level, and Roth says that’s big because if a kid doesn’t have a good experience at the junior high level, they won’t go out for track in high school. Davis has been the 8th grade boys track coach for over thirty years.
