Last week’s winter storm is putting a strain on the area’s blood supply. The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood center says several blood drives had to be cancelled. The organization is calling on Washington area residents to help fill the gap. Local Blood Drive Organizer Yale Jarvis says this time of year is often a difficult one for blood donations because many people are busy with holiday activities. Washington’s Noon Kiwanis Club is putting on a blood drive Thursday afternoon from 1:00 to 6:30 at the United Presbyterian Church.
