The Iowa Department of Transportation is warning motorist that warmer weather like we’ve had this week can be deceiving. The state agency says even though the air temperature gets above freezing, road surfaces are still well below 32 degrees. The DOT says bridges, off ramps and shady spots are especially susceptible to ice formation. They say if your vehicle does begin to slide, remove your foot from the accelerator, don’t attempt to brake and turn your steering wheel in the direction you want the front wheels to go once the vehicle’s tire’s begin to grab the road.
