Ice is expected to hit southeast Iowa this week. The National Weather Service says a storm system will spread freezing rain across the area Wednesday and Wednesday night. Ice accumulations of up to one-quarter inch are possible, with isolated higher amounts. That will likely be followed by a major storm system this weekend. Low pressure is expected to track into the Northern Plains Saturday and pull warmer gulf moisture northward into the region. This will bring heavy rain and a few embedded thunderstorms Saturday and Saturday night.
