Government Spending

Healthcare legislation, cap and trade and government spending are some of the biggest concerns area residents are expressing to U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley. The New Hartford Republican was in Kalona last night for a town hall style meeting. He says the healthcare bill will pass, if Democrats stick together. On cap and trade, Grassley says it would be useless without an international resolution. As far as government spending is concerned, for that he refers back to the health care bill. He says it would increases taxes and premiums without addressing inflationary costs. Grassley plans to visit Muscatine Columbus Junction and Mt. Pleasant today.
