Hundreds of people packed the Washington County Extension Building last night for a town hall meeting on zoning. Most members of the public who spoke are against the idea of county zoning, but there were those for it. Some of the biggest gripes about zoning include infringement of property rights, creation of increased government bureaucracy, and an inability for the general public to vote on the matter. Proponents say it provides for orderly development and protects farmland.
