Ice storms like the one that rolled through Iowa this week can be damaging to trees. However, a DNR forester says foliage in the eastern part of the state will likely be spared. Mark Vitosh says as long winds stay calm, warmer weather this weekend should melt the ice before it causes significant damage. Vitosh says when cleaning up downed limbs, it’s important to work with local utilities to make sure they are removed safely.
