State Representative Larry Marek of Riverside put his support behind a bill to make insurance companies provide routine care for patients participating in cancer clinical trials.
Marek says it’s a move to hold insurance companies accountable and help cancer patients. He says if a doctor and patient decide on the best treatment to beat cancer, insurance companies must be held accountable and guarantee they will still cover routine care.
House File 2075, which was approved by the Iowa House this week, will now move on to the Senate.
In other news from Des Moines: The Washington Public Library is receiving a $2,100 grant from the Enrich Iowa Program.
The money will go towards purchasing new audio books.
Marek says “improving…libraries is an important step toward making Washington a better place to live through lifelong learning.”
