press play to hear from the Center of Rural Affairs’ Virgina Wolking

A think tank focused on rural America says healthcare reform will be a major asset. Virginia Wolking with the Center of Rural Affairs says healthcare coverage matters, especially for people in rural areas because they receive fewer preventative services. She says this leads to more serious and chronic medical conditions. Wolking says a concern for rural Iowa is a lack of new doctors. She says even if a medical student wanted to practice in a rural area for their residency, there are simply not enough slots for them.
