Washington was among 23 Iowa school districts that missed a deadline in the fall to file their certified annual report – a snapshot of cash and spending levels. Washington Business Manager Jeff Dieleman says they were granted an extension and were able to get the paperwork turned in. Dieleman says getting the report finished is a challenging task, because they are often given short notice of upcoming deadlines. Dieleman says the state can withhold funding on a month by month basis for districts that fail to turn in the report.
