2009 was one of the wettest years on record for Iowa, and January of this year started with another massive winter storm. The beginning of 2008 also started that way, which led to record flooding. Could that be the case this year? John Hasse is with the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities. He says it’s difficult to say because it’s hard to predict how much more snow the area will receive. He says one positive indicator is the El Nino event. He says that typically bringers lower snowfall totals. Hasse says the area is expected to experience drier, warmer weather over the next several weeks.
