It appears that Empowerment programs in Iowa will not be moved from the state department of management to the department of education. That’s according to Fairfield State Senator Becky Schmitz. The proposed move was a small facet of a massive state government reorganization bill. It aims to save the state money in the wake of a looming budget gap. Schmitz spoke this weekend at the Washington Chamber of Commerce’s Legislative Briefing.
