press play to hear from Hydrologist Maren Stoflet

The National Weather Service has released its second spring flooding outlook of the year, and the risk is up from the last outlook in January. Maren Stoflet is the Hydrologist in the NWS Quad Cities office. She says it’s still too early to draw comparisons with conditions leading up to the record floods of 2008. Stoflet says while winter snow pack did play a role in the 2008 floods, it was a rare case where that was followed by a situation where spring, and early summer thunderstorms hit at just the right times and places to cause the record flooding.
