James Robert McFarland

Funeral services for 52 year old James Robert McFarland of Ainsworth will be held at 11AM Tuesday (2/16) at the Jones Eden Funeral Home in Washington. Burial with military honors will take place at the Oregon Township Cemetery in Ainsworth. Visitation will begin at 9AM Tuesday at the Jones Eden Funeral Home with the family present from 9-11AM Tuesday. A general memorial has been established.

Funeral services for 85 year old Martin Boller of Kalona is Monday (12/15) morning at 10:30 at the East Union Mennonite Church, rural Kalona.  Visitation is today (12/14) from 3-7pm at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona.  A memorial has bee established to the Pleasantview Home in Kalona.

Naturally Louisa County Inviting Residents to “Tap the Sap”

Naturally Louisa County is having a hands on training class for tree tapping for sap. The class will teach the basics of maple syrup production on a small scale using low tech, inexpensive methods. Following the class, participants should be able to tap a tree on their own. The “Tap the Sap” class is Sunday, February 21, from 1 pm to 3 pm at the Toolesboro Mounds & Museum.

Panthers beat Demon boys to win conference title

The Washington Demon boys basketball team played a tight game in Demons Gym against 2nd ranked Mount Pleasant but in the end the Demons couldn’t get to the free throw line as much as the Panthers and that would hurt them.
