Richard L. Hahn

Richard L. Hahn, age 66, of Morning Sun formerly of Washington died Monday February 1, 2010 at the Morning Sun Care Center following complications from a stroke.

Mass of the Resurrection will be held 11:00 am Friday February 5, 2010 at St. James Catholic Church in Washington with Father Paul Appel officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 until 11:00 Friday morning at St. James Catholic Church. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. A memorial has been established to Washington County Developmental Center (WCDC). Richard was born on April 11, 1943 in Fairfield, Iowa the son of Dale and Myra (Jones) Hahn. He attended school in Brighton and attended Catholic school in East Pleasant Plain. He was united in marriage to Susan Wheeler on November 19, 1968. They later divorced. Richard worked construction and later worked at Heatilator for over 20 years. He later worked at IBP until his health forced his retirement. He enjoyed NASCAR Racing, and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye sports fan. He enjoyed going to stock car races with his family.

Richard is survived by his son, Richard L. Hahn Jr.; son, Martin Hahn; and daughter, Lavonda “Susie” Hahn all of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; four grandchildren: Derek Lee Hiller, Shelby Kaitlyn Scott, Brett Martin Hahn, and Miranda Marie Hahn; and one great granddaughter Emma Lynn Scott.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
