A representative of the Iowa State Archaeologist’s Office will be in Washington this weekend for a presentation on Native American artifacts. Mark Anderson is speaking as part of the County Historical Society’s “Edna Jones Lecture Series.” Anderson will discuss the presence of Native Americans in the region and the artifacts from southeast Iowa. People are invited to bring artifacts to gain insight into its origin and probable use. The lecture is this Saturday afternoon at 2:00 at the Washington Public Library. It’s free and open to the public.
