The 1A girls basketball postseason kicked off last night and first the WACO Warriors beat Keota by three but it was a tight finish. The Warriors led much of the way and had a 13 points lead midway through the third. It was an eleven point lead with six minutes to play. WACO Head Coach Shannon Rugg says they knew Keota would come out wanting to press and he felt his team dealt with it pretty well. It was 44-42 with seconds left but the Warriors got a free throw with three left on the clock and that would be the final as WACO wins 45-42. For WACO Kiley Hudson had 15 and Taylor Reschley had 12 points. The Warriors next take on New London who beat Notre Dame 50-34.

Elsewhere, IMS girls were at Highland and IMS took the early lead but Highland used a big second quarter to get back on track. After one, IMS was up 13-9, but the Huskies outscored IMS 22-6 in the second to go in at halftime up 31-19. Highland outscored IMS 30-14 in the second half to win 61-33. Highland’s Kayla Schneider had a strong night with 20 points including three three pointers and five steals. Brittany Gerot had 12 points and four steals, and Anna Sweeting had 10 with 16 rebounds. Highland is now 17-6, and will play Lone Tree next.
