Alliant Energy meter readers have been challenged by winter snowfall this season. The utility says drifts and strong winds have made walking to some meters nearly impossible, slowing readers and reducing the number reads they are able to log each day. Customer Operations Vice President Vern Gebhart says they greatly appreciate customers taking the time to remove snow and ice from around their property. Many even take time to plow a path to the meter. Gebhart encourages all customers to shovel a path to the meter and carefully remove snow and ice at the meter by hand.
