People have until the end of the month to return their census questionnaires. April 1st, also known as Census Day, is the deadline. In 2000 more than 14-thousand Iowans went uncounted. Senator Tom Harkin says this amounted to a loss of millions of dollars over the 10 year span of each census. He says people in rural areas often go uncounted, and since federal funding depends on census data, vital community needs can be affected.
